Holy smokes – Kate Winslet is nude. Actually that is no big deal. Kate Winslet became a star after Titanic. And she became fat- well only a little fat actually. And to prove that chubby is sexy, Kate Winslet was taking her clothes off in every other movie. But there are many other moments in this movie that will make you say- Holy smokes !!! –
Now that I am thinking; Kate Winslet took off her clothes in Titanic too. So maybe my theory is incorrect. Moving right along, the movie is about Kate Winslet’s India trip and her metamorphosis into Nazneen. She becomes a hippie sadhvi in an ashram and her family has to trick her back home to Australia. To bring her back to senses they engage a hot shot – cult exiter from America. Not hard to guess that he fails in his endeavor.
But it is the process of the failure that makes the movie gripping. No I am just mincing words. It is the fact that he ends up having lot of sex with Kate Winslet that makes the movie gripping. I had little idea that this movie would turn out to be so damn erotic.
If the movie had some more other message or philosophical overtones I certainly missed them. I still think there is nothing really complicated or spiritual about India as the Caucasians claim there is– it is just a lot of poor people who are too busy to make ends meet and religion is their one escape ( as Marx would say ).
Oh by the way, towards the end of the movie, the hotshot cult exiter is running around an Australian desert wearing a short red dress and lipstick.
