It is fashionable to bash our media but shouldn’t we be grateful to them and not just for the entertainment they provide.
After all, what did we have before this media. What chance would Natha farmer have in the good old days of Doordarshan. In his latest “editorial” Chetan Bhagat expressed his disgust at obnoxious display of wealth by Mayawati. He was going on and on about how ostentatious display of wealth is well ummm – ostentatious. He cited Warren Buffett as a model of frugality for all the youth of the country to imitate. But why exactly is Mayawati flaunting her “wealth”, if that is what one think it is.
I became a big fan of Chetan Bhagat when I first read 5 point someone. He was able to quickly connect to the readers most of them being engineers, I am not sure about rest of them. He tried to address a different set of crowd with one night at call center but that was like leap from reality. Ok, I know FPS had some really no- realistic incidents like falling from roof top and surviving and what not, but still my entertainment starved soul could bear that.
