Oyeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee !!!!
Due to my Delhi upbringing, I was pretty liberal with the use of the word oye when I initially landed in Kharagpur, Bengal. But soon I realized that oye is somewhat offensive to Bengalis. So I started using Dada for the rickshaw wallas and chai wallas. There is quite a cultural gap between Punjab and Bengal. So I was surprised that the director of this movie which has the Punjabi underbelly of West delhi as one of its inspiration – is a Bengali.

Chutiya !!!

Damn !!! .
Oh it’s a classic. It’s a movie about a widow who is unable to find another suitor and becomes insane. Yeah I know nobody wants to see that.It is based on a Pulitzer winning broadway play.I know that makes it even worse. But it stars the greatest , most dashing , most enigmatic and most almost everything worth mentioning movie star of all times.
He must have had one sick mind. Or at least some really dark corners in his mind with which he seems to be well aware of. How can a man come up with such macabre stories, have them in his mind for considerable time while executing the direction and manage to remain sane. Of all his movies this one has the most morbid setting and it is also a personal favorite.
Damn you Shiny Ahuja ! Weren’t all those starlets enough for you. In an ensemble of actors who takes themselves too seriously as actors (somehow this makes them more annoying than the soap ones) ,Shiny Ahuja was the one saving grace.
