You can love him or hate him but you can’t ignore him. He has that creepy presence which makes you take notice. Of all the Woody Allen movie , he himself rates this as one of his best although people would say Annie Hall or Manhattan. It is also my personal favorite one for no particular reason but just that it really makes me laugh every time I watch it. continue reading…

Khushwant Singh has a pretty consistent style of writing, and I do not intend to give him a compliment. Somehow his storytelling is always filmy. This one has a dramatic context ,but somehow the character development remains similar to his other works. Infact you can take some characters from his book Delhi: A Novel and put them here instead of original ones and it wouldn’t make much difference. continue reading…

This is probably the first novel I ever read, not counting Hardy Boys and abridged children’s versions of classics. Picked it up from my father’s collection and could figure out (thanks due to the graphic cover illustration) that this has some erotic content. continue reading…

How did I start reading this one? Someone gave it as a gift (it makes a pretty cheap one).

But while reading this book, I realised the writers of these sort of books are the American equivalent of our Asaram Bapoojis and those other folks in the “pravachan” business. One of their strong defence against people, who are saying they are wasting everyone’s time is that what harm can listening to them or reading them do to anyone. Fair enough, as what they are saying is pretty decent wholesome talk which does refresh you if you do not hold any bias against them. continue reading…
